Our Story

Jeans For Refugees was founded by Johny Dar, as an artistic collaboration with more than one hundred celebrities, that raises funds for the International Rescue Committee (rescue.org) in support of refugees worldwide.

Celebrities donate their jeans.  Johny Dar paints them.  The 'Jeans For Refugees' are sold to raise funds, which are donated to the IRC -  an organisation based in New York and at work in over 30 countries, that responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster.

More than 100 celebrities from the film, art, fashion and music industries, including Emma Watson, Eva Longoria, Anna Wintour, Harry Styles, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Sir Elton John, have donated their denims for the cause.  Johny Dar transforms each pair into an individual art work and a unique piece of the Jeans For Refugees collection.  The design for each individual pair of Jeans For Refugees is inspired by the celebrity who wore them -each pair is painted with a unique artistic expression representing the dynamic individual personality that donated them.   The Jeans For Refugees have been exhibited in New York, Milan, Berlin and the prestigious Saatchi Gallery in London in 2016.
